In the process of acquiring land for the FM Area Diversion project, the Metro Flood Diversion Authority also acquired additional acreage at the request of the landowners. The Property Rights Acquisition Plan provides initial guidance on the disposal process for Excess Lands. Further guidance on the process can be found in the MFDA board-approved Excess Lands Policy. The policy states MFDA member entities will have the first opportunity to purchase excess lands. If not, it’s offered to the original seller first and, if unwanted, to the neighboring property owners. If at that time the land is still available, it will be made available via a public land sale.
Any parcels labeled as excess land will be listed here upon their approval by the MFDA Board. These parcels do not include any structures, and some land has restrictions, such as a flowage easement, that will limit how the land can be used.
Once a parcel is made available for public sale, it will be noted in the status for that parcel. To request to purchase, please complete the form at the bottom of this page.
