FARGO, N.D. – Work will begin on I-94 west of West Fargo near exit 342 for construction of the FM Area Diversion project’s I-94 bypass lanes later today. Work will take place in both westbound and eastbound lanes simultaneously.

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, single lane closures of the left passing lanes of both westbound and eastbound I-94 will begin just after Exit 342 westbound and after Exit 340 eastbound. Lanes closures will be less than 1 mile long and last through Friday, April 19, 2024.

On Monday, April 22, 2024, single lane closures will change to the right driving lanes of both westbound and eastbound I-94 in the same location. The closures for this portion of the project will be approximately 1 mile long and in effect until the bypass lanes are complete, which is expected in June.

Upon completion of the bypass lanes, there will be a one-week closure of the westbound on-ramp, the westbound weigh station, and the eastbound off-ramp at Exit 342 to connect the ramps to the new bypass lanes and prepare for traffic to move from I-94 to the bypass lanes. This closure date depends on construction progress and will be communicated via local media before it occurs.

Speeds will be reduced in the project area for the safety of construction crews and motorists. Please be aware of the construction and drive safely.
