FM Area Diversion Construction Necessitates Road Closures
FARGO, N.D. – Construction of the FM Area Diversion has permanently closed the current intersection of County Road 16 and County Road 17 to construct a roundabout and embankment tie-in to the Diversion Inlet Structure.
Motorists will be detoured with clearly marked signage around the intersection roadway. Signs warning the public that the closure was occurring were placed 2 weeks in advance.
The regional detour route for County Road 16 includes County Road 15, ND-46 and I-29. Traffic is diverted off of County Road 16 at County Road 15 on the west end, and I-29 on the east end.
Regional detour route for County 17 is on I-29. Traffic is diverted off of County Road 17 at County Road 14 (100th Ave. S.) on the north end and ND-46 (54th St. SE) on the south end.
East/Westbound traffic on County Road 16 is anticipated to be open to the public in early October 2025, weather dependent. Traffic will be routed through the newly constructed roundabout.
Once the new County Road 17 bridge across the diversion channel is completed by RRVA/ASN Constructors, northbound and southbound traffic on County Road 17 will be open to the public.
Please be aware of the construction, follow traffic signs and drive safely.
