Jodi A. Smith joined the Metro Flood Diversion Authority as its first Director of Lands & Compliance in November 2021.
Since 2017, she was the Commissioner and Secretary for the Board of University and School Lands and led the North Dakota Department of Trust Lands, where she was responsible for the management and stewardship of educational trusts, the State’s minerals and surface estate, and other assets that are purposed for the benefit of public schools and other institutions in North Dakota. In five years, she grew the Board of University and School Lands by more than $4 billion.
Previously, she applied her strategic management and financial skills to healthcare organizations. Her leadership with the Trinity Health Foundation (Minot, North Dakota), and Sanford Health Foundation (Bismarck, North Dakota) showed she’s adept at setting goals and developing long-range plans that align with the organization’s vision.
Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Pepperdine University in California. Her advanced education includes a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Regis University, Colorado, and a master’s degree in nutrition from Nutritional Therapy Institute, Colorado.
