The chairman of the Flood Diversion Board of Authority has updated the North Dakota Water Topics Overview Committee regarding funding for the F-M Area Diversion Project.
Darrell Vanyo provided updates to Committee members on four main topics: the Diversion Project’s recent Presidential authorization as specified in the Water Resource Reform and Development Act (WRRDA), work underway to implement distributed storage, mitigation efforts underway upstream of the Project, and the Diversion Authority’s priorities for the next few years.
The Diversion Project “was one of only 26 water projects authorized nationwide. The significance of authorization cannot be overstated,” Vanyo told Committee members. “WRRDA authorized construction of the Diversion Project and authorized $846 million as the federal share of the cost.”
